On August 20, 2026, the Graduate School organized the "Khon Kaen University Graduate School Sport Day 2026" (Grad School KKU Sport Day 2026) project at the Multi-Purpose Building, Khon Kaen University Demonstration School (Secondary Education Division). The event was attended by over 50 administrators, faculty members, staff, and graduate students from the Graduate School and the 4 joint-curriculum programs, including Biomedical Sciences, Exercise and Sport Sciences, Music Therapy, and Medical Bioinformatics for Industry.
Prof. Dr. Kiatichai Faksri, Acting Dean of the Graduate School, presided over the opening ceremony and stated that this project was organized to concretely promote the concepts of Work-Life Balance and Happy Workplace within the organization. It focuses on physical health care, stress relief, and building engagement among personnel at all levels. He also noted that this activity is more important than just a sports competition, as it provides an opportunity for administrators, faculty, staff, and students from various joint-curriculum programs to meet, exchange knowledge, and bridge the gaps between different statuses and disciplines.
Activities at the event included fun sports and traditional folk games, with participants divided into 3 teams: Red, Blue, and Yellow. The event began with a recreational aerobic warm-up activity (Ba Duan Jin) led by Mrs. Wen LUO, a doctoral student in Exercise and Sport Sciences. This was followed by relationship-building sports competitions, such as chairball, sack race, three-legged race, and tug-of-war. The competition was close and filled with fun, with the Red team winning first place, the Blue team taking the runner-up spot, and the Yellow team finishing in third place. All teams received warm applause and encouragement from the attendees, reflecting an atmosphere of unity and sportsmanship throughout the competition, before concluding with an award ceremony, a shared meal, and a commemorative photo session.
The organization of this project successfully achieved its objectives, both in terms of promoting physical and mental well-being, and building relationships and networks among students, faculty, and staff from all 4 joint-curriculum programs. It also integrated student development activities with out-of-classroom learning through teamwork and learning about sportsmanship (knowing how to lose, win, and forgive). This is considered another key activity driving the sustainable happy workplace culture of the Graduate School, Khon Kaen University.
